Devastating Blaze Displaces 22 Residents in Nasinu

A fire in Caubati, Nasinu on Tuesday, September 3, has left 22 individuals displaced after it destroyed two wooden houses. The National Fire Authority received the emergency call at 9:59 AM, and crews from Valelevu, Suva, and Nakasi Fire Stations quickly responded. By 11:12 AM, the fire was reported to be under control, but it caused significant damage, with over 95% of both homes affected. One residence was home to 17 people, while the other housed 5. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. Puamau Sowane, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Fire Authority, emphasized the importance of fire safety and urged homeowners to utilize appropriate building materials and employ licensed electricians to mitigate the risk of electrical faults, which often lead to residential fires.
