After six years of hard work, Avisaki Buirokotuiloma has successfully completed her Bachelor of Education degree at the University of the South Pacific.
Raised by parents who provided strong financial support, she faced the challenge of obtaining additional income to fund her studies. Walking across the graduation stage on Friday was a fulfilling moment for her.
Ms. Buirokotuiloma highlighted the struggle of finding sufficient financial resources as a major obstacle. “At times, the thought of giving up crossed my mind, but my parents’ support and encouragement were my biggest motivators,” she shared. “I’m beyond grateful for the countless prayers from family and relatives; it wouldn’t have been possible without their support.”
To help finance her education, she took on various part-time jobs while studying. Despite the challenges, her determination to succeed remained strong. She admitted that juggling her academic responsibilities with household duties was difficult, but having the right information and support made a significant difference.
Originally from Navuniyasi in Naitasiri, her aspiration of becoming a teacher is now coming to fruition. She has always visualized herself in a classroom, and that dream is gradually being realized. “With this degree, I will be able to secure a stable job and contribute to my family,” she expressed. “It is never too late. I am happy that I have finally achieved this.”
