Dental Dilemmas: Fiji’s Association Faces Membership Challenges

Dr. Parikshath Naidu, president of the Fiji Dental Association, has highlighted membership challenges faced by the organization. In a recent interview, he explained that different categories within the association come with various issues, particularly relating to membership.

The association prioritizes the well-being of its members, which includes addressing their licensing, practice conditions within the government, and salary concerns. For private practitioners, the focus extends to taxation and the supply of dental products.

At a national level, the association collaborates with the Ministry of Health to shape policies and is actively involved in the Fiji Medical Dental Council. Dr. Naidu noted that they maintain direct communication with the Minister of Health and the permanent secretary to address legal issues and health epidemics.

Furthermore, he acknowledged that oral health poses a significant challenge globally, which the association aims to tackle through their activities.
