Dellas men’s team from Makoi won the championship at the X9 Nakasi Volleyball tournament, which took place in Nakasi on Monday. The victorious team received a cash prize of $300, while the Sisterhood Women’s team from Nakasi triumphed in the women’s division.
The tournament, organized by Kaulotu Rokodreu, featured around 32 teams competing in both men’s and women’s categories, with approximately 200 players and officials present. Rokodreu emphasized that the event was designed to engage youth and steer them away from negative influences, such as drug abuse.
“The competition also serves as a platform for youth advocacy, as we have noticed a concerning rise in drug-related issues among young people, some of which have led to involvement with law enforcement,” Rokodreu stated. He also expressed gratitude for the support from the Minister for Women, Children & Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, and PAP Nasinu president for their sponsorship of the prizes.
