Defence Club Fire: Arson Confirmed, Investigation Continues

A fire that severely damaged the Defence Club in Suva in February has been officially classified as arson. Puamau Sowane, the chief executive officer of the National Fire Authority, announced this conclusion in a statement yesterday, following the completion of the investigation into the incident. “The investigation report indicates that the cause of the fire has been identified as arson,” Mr. Sowane stated. The case file has been forwarded to the Fiji Police Crime Office. Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa confirmed that they have received the report. “We will review the NFA’s investigation report to pinpoint the fire’s origin and proceed from there,” Mr. Waqa noted.
