Two men are set to appear in the Nasinu Magistrates Court today, facing charges from the Fiji Police Mpaisa Task Force related to separate incidents of Obtaining Financial Advantage by Deception.

In the first case, a 36-year-old man from Wailea, Vatuwaqa, is accused of deceiving a victim on May 21, 2023. He allegedly tricked her into believing that he had sent a One Time Pin (OTP) incorrectly, leading her to provide him with the necessary details. After receiving the OTP, he is believed to have transferred $447.00 to himself, which he subsequently withdrew for personal use.

In a separate case, another 36-year-old man from Koronivia allegedly gained $190 dishonestly from a victim on November 17, 2023. The investigation found that the victim was drawn in by a Facebook post advertising a car for hire, which prompted her to send a deposit to the listed number. The accused reportedly took the money and failed to deliver the promised service.

Both individuals are expected to be presented in court today.
