The i-Taukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) is urging its tenants to address outstanding rental arrears in accordance with their lease agreements. The deadline for settling these arrears is November 30, marking the end of a previously granted 30-day grace period.
In a recent announcement, TLTB highlighted that its Estates Teams will be actively visiting tenants across various regional and sub-regional offices, including locations such as Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Rakiraki, Korovou, Nausori, Labasa, and Savusavu. These visits aim to assess the actions taken by tenants to clear their outstanding rental payments.
TLTB has issued reminders regarding rental arrears, underscoring the importance of compliance to maintain the integrity of lease agreements. To support tenants in resolving their financial obligations, TLTB has collaborated with commercial banks to explore potential financial assistance options.
The board emphasized that timely rental payments are crucial, as landowners rely on this income for their livelihoods. With the November 30 deadline approaching, tenants are encouraged to utilize the remaining time to clear their dues and avoid possible enforcement actions or land repossession.
In light of the situation, TLTB calls for the cooperation and commitment of tenants to meet their lease obligations and ensure that landowners receive the funds that are essential for their well-being.
This initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of fulfilling lease commitments, ultimately fostering a stronger relationship between tenants and landowners. By working together to resolve these issues, both parties can ensure a more stable and prosperous future.
