The i-Taukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) has urged its tenants to address any outstanding rental arrears in accordance with their lease agreements. In a recent statement, TLTB indicated that a grace period of 30 days was previously granted, which will conclude on November 30.

To assist tenants with their obligations, TLTB’s Estates Teams will make follow-up visits to those in arrears across various offices in Suva, Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Rakiraki, Korovou, Nausori, Labasa, and Savusavu. These visits aim to evaluate how tenants are managing their rental payments.

TLTB has sent out reminders and arrears notices, highlighting the importance of timely payments in maintaining valid lease agreements. Moreover, to support tenants, TLTB has negotiated with commercial banks to offer financial assistance options to help them clear their dues.

Timely rental payments are crucial, as they ensure that lease money is distributed promptly to landowners, who rely on this income for their livelihoods. The board has emphasized the importance of tenant cooperation, noting that failure to settle arrears by the November 30 deadline could lead to enforcement actions or repossession of the rented land.

TLTB calls for tenants’ commitment to meet their lease obligations, as it is vital to prevent landowners from losing the financial support they deserve.

In summary, TLTB is actively working to support its tenants while also reminding them of the importance of fulfilling their rental agreements. By fostering open communication and offering financial solutions, both tenants and landowners can work together towards a more stable future. This initiative not only promotes responsibility among tenants but also underlines the significance of cooperation in maintaining the livelihoods of landowners who depend on these rental payments.
