Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Sakeo Raikaci has confirmed to Fiji One News that he has applied for the position of Police Commissioner.
Raikaci stated, “Yes, I applied for the post,” noting that the decision ultimately rests with the Constitutional Offices Commission (COC). He expressed his readiness to assume the role if selected.
A graduate of the University of the South Pacific, Raikaci holds a Bachelor of Law Degree, a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice, and a Certificate in Criminal Law. He has experience across various units, including the Uniform Branch and the Crime and Major Fraud Unit.
Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua has indicated that the next Police Commissioner of Fiji will be a local candidate chosen from within the Fiji Police Force. The Constitutional Offices Commission is set to meet to determine the new leadership for the police force, following the closure of applications yesterday.
