Jonathan Hill achieved a stunning victory over Rupeni Rokoratu, knocking him out in the second round of the South Pacific Boxing Promotion held at Subrail Park in Labasa yesterday.
Despite a notable weight difference of 10 kilograms, Hill was confident in his ability to overcome Rokoratu. He likened the match to the biblical story of David and Goliath, emphasizing the disparity in their weight classes, with Hill fighting as a middleweight against the heavier opponent.
Hill explained that he strategically aimed to exhaust Rokoratu in the first round before delivering a decisive body shot, which he is well-known for. While he acknowledged Rokoratu’s skills as a fighter, Hill noted that his opponent lacked composure in the ring.
Hill expressed that increased competition in Labasa could help elevate the level of boxing in the region.
