Dark Web Dangers: Are Our Kids at Risk?

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has expressed grave concerns about children accessing dark websites, stating that such activities are jeopardizing their lives and the well-being of their families. While addressing the 41st Fiji Head Teachers Association conference in Nadi, he highlighted a report from Fiji Times that discussed drug abuse and the involvement of children in the dark web.

Radrodro emphasized the urgency of the situation, urging educators to reflect on their roles and responsibilities. “Accessing websites that can destroy their lives and those of their families,” he warned. He challenged teachers to ensure they are actively involved in monitoring students and engaging with their families and communities. He stressed the importance of collaboration with government and non-government partners to help protect children from various detrimental influences present in society.

Additionally, the minister underscored that a great teacher should possess more than just credentials and intelligence. “A significant aspect of being a great teacher is going beyond the classroom,” he said, highlighting the importance of values and attitudes that encourage students to learn and thrive.
