Former Fiji Bati player Daniel Saifiti has embarked on a new chapter in his rugby career by signing with the Redcliffe Dolphins, leaving behind a significant tenure with the Newcastle Knights. Since joining the National Rugby League in 2016, Saifiti has developed into a key player for the Knights. However, he feels that a transition to the Dolphins will provide him with a much-needed fresh start.
Reflecting on his move, Saifiti expressed a desire to step out of his comfort zone, acknowledging that he and his brother Jacob had become entrenched as one of the last senior players with the Knights over the past decade. “I knew it was time,” Saifiti stated, explaining that after a heartfelt discussion with his partner, they both agreed it was time to seek new opportunities.
At the Dolphins, Saifiti will have the chance to reunite with former coach Kristian Woolf, with whom he established a strong bond during their time together in 2019. Saifiti emphasized the importance of this relationship, stating, “There’s representative players all over the park here, but probably the main thing was coming under Woolfy again.” His immediate connection to the team solidified his decision, as he felt a strong instinctive signal after Woolf contacted his manager.
This new signing not only marks a pivotal point in Saifiti’s career but also promises to revitalize both his personal and professional life. With experienced leadership and a familiar coaching style, he is set to make significant contributions to the Dolphins.
Hope is in the air as Saifiti takes this brave step, showcasing the potential for growth and success in a new environment. As he embarks on this journey, fans can look forward to exciting performances from him in the upcoming season.
