The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focused on enhancing their performance, particularly in scrummaging, as stated by assistant coach Samisoni Navatu. This comes following their unexpected 23-22 victory over the tournament favorites, Ratu Kadavulevu School, in the quarterfinals.
Navatu acknowledged that there is still significant scope for improvement despite the win. He described the match as a challenging one and expressed gratitude for the outcome.
“We entered with the determination to win, and we achieved that. The boys deserve commendation for their efforts,” he remarked.
He mentioned some confusion over the final judgment when the officials initially declared RKS the winner. However, he was relieved when the decision was corrected. He also noted the team’s age diversity, with some players being 17 while others are 18, yet they managed to pull together effectively.
Navatu is urging their loyal fans to come and support the team in large numbers during the upcoming semi-final match against Nasinu Secondary School on Saturday.
