Cuvu College’s U18 Rugby Team Aims Higher After Stunning Upset Win

The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focused on enhancing their performance, particularly in the scrum area. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this insight following their surprising 23-22 victory over Ratu Kadavulevu School, a favored contender in the Vodafone Deans Trophy quarterfinal.

Navatu acknowledged that there is still potential for improvement despite the win. He described the match as intense and expressed gratitude for the outcome, stating, “Glory to God for this win.” He commended the players for their efforts, saying, “We came here with the goal to win and we did that. Credit to the boys for a job well done.”

The assistant coach expressed some confusion regarding the initial announcement of the final score, which mistakenly declared Ratu Kadavulevu School as the winner. However, he was relieved when the decision was corrected. He noted the age mix in the team, where some players are still 17, while others are 18, but they managed to perform effectively together.

Navatu is urging their loyal supporters to turn out in large numbers to cheer for the team as they prepare for the semi-final against Nasinu Secondary School this Saturday.
