The Cuvu College Under-18 rugby team is focused on enhancing their performance, particularly in scrums. Assistant coach Samisoni Navatu shared this insight following the team’s narrow 23-22 victory against Ratu Kadavulevu School, a favorite in the Vodafone Deans Trophy quarterfinals.
Navatu acknowledged that there is still significant potential for improvement, despite the hard-fought win. He expressed gratitude for their success, emphasizing the challenging nature of the match.
“Glory to God for this win,” he stated. “We came here with the goal to win, and we achieved that. Credit goes to the boys for their excellent performance.”
The coach mentioned some confusion regarding the official announcement of the final score when RKS was initially declared the winner. However, he expressed relief at the subsequent reversal of the decision, while highlighting that their journey is not over yet. He noted the mixed ages of the players, with some still 17, managing to perform well together.
Navatu is encouraging their loyal fans to rally and support the team in the upcoming semifinal against Nasinu Secondary School this Saturday.
