Rowena Acraman has shown remarkable strength and determination this year, despite the loss of her grandmother. The former radio journalist, who is passionate about human rights and climate change, is one of the nine contestants vying for the title in the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024.
Sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings, Acraman reflected on the challenges of her three years of study, emphasizing that the support from her friends helped her navigate various obstacles. “Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” she stated, acknowledging the difficulties she faced at home as a demonstration of her resilience. She added, “Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off.”
Participating in the festival this week has been an incredible experience for Acraman, and she describes it as a magical journey filled with mixed emotions. Alongside her academic pursuits, she is also a talented artist, singer, and musician, proficient in both the guitar and ukulele.
Looking to the future, Acraman has aspirations to work for a non-governmental organization focused on human rights and climate change. She acknowledged the challenges of balancing work and study, but she has successfully maintained a stable income while working towards her degree.
