The Miss Cakaudrove Youth title will be awarded this Friday at Narain Park in Savusavu, where the winner will receive a crown featuring 59 exquisite pearls. According to Aubrey Whippy, the co-ordinator of the Cakaudrove Multi-Ethnic Youth and Sports Festival, a total of 14 contestants are competing for the titles of Miss Cakaudrove Youth and Miss Charity.
The participants represent 12 different districts, with one contestant hailing from Rabi Island and another from Kailoma. The festivities will kick off today (Tuesday) at 10 AM with a ceremonial march from the Savusavu Court House to Narain Park.
The closing ceremony of the pageant is set to start on Friday at 3 PM, culminating in the crowning events for Miss Charity and Miss Cakaudrove Youth at 7 PM, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka as the chief guest. Whippy expressed gratitude to J Hunter Pearls for crafting the unique crowned piece and to Shane Bower for donating the crown for the Miss Charity title.
“This is going to be a full day and night program spanning four days,” Whippy noted, emphasizing that the funds raised will go towards the development of youth initiatives in Cakaudrove. Entry to the park is free, marking this as the inaugural event organized by the Cakaudrove Youth Provincial Council.
This festival not only showcases the talents and beauty of the contestants but also emphasizes the importance of community engagement and youth development in the region. It is a wonderful opportunity for local youth to come together, celebrate their heritage, and take part in meaningful initiatives that support their growth and development.
In summary, the upcoming Miss Cakaudrove Youth event is not just a beauty pageant; it is a celebration of cultural diversity and youth empowerment, aiming to foster a brighter future for the young people of Cakaudrove.
