Melania Tora, crowned Miss Hibiscus 2024, maintained her positive spirit despite the week’s excitement and activities. She attended a church service to express her gratitude to God for her victory, emphasizing that giving thanks and praise is essential to her.

The 24-year-old is eager to celebrate her win with her family in Sabeto and mentioned her maternal roots in Vanuabalavu, Lau. After the service at Fiji Connect held at the USP Laucala Campus, she shared, “Being with Jesus is so wonderful. I am not perfect in any way, but I have had my own journey and testimony.”

Ms. Tora reflected on her faith, stating, “He has been so gracious and loving to me. I can achieve great things because He is with me, and whether I wear the crown or not, I feel victorious as my victory lies with Him.”

Expressing her gratitude for the community’s support, she said, “For the vanua to stand behind me has been a newfound necessity. I appreciate the encouragement I’ve received, and I will celebrate with them soon.”

Overwhelmed with gratitude, she thanked everyone who supported her throughout the week. She is committed to advocating for those in need, having prepared for this role through her two years of community work with various vulnerable groups.

“I believe this platform will allow me to support these organizations and drive sustainable change,” she added, expressing enthusiasm about involving more fellow Fijians in her advocacy.

Tora also expressed gratitude for connecting with other contestants and appreciated their contributions. She described the experience as a privilege, filled with early mornings and emotional moments, and expressed her belief in her strength and support system.

To future contestants, she advised, “If you’re considering participating next year, go for it. Your background or ethnicity doesn’t matter. If you want to make a difference in the community and create a platform like my fellow sisters, I encourage you to take that leap. It may be challenging, but it’s an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
