Manshika Prasad, crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, faced a shocking situation just two days after her win when a confusing message suggested she was no longer the titleholder. This incident unfolded at a lavish private party celebrating her victory.
The situation became more complex with allegations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct emerging in the media. Despite the backlash and a lengthy media campaign against her by a rival contestant, Prasad remained calm and composed, choosing not to engage in social media disputes.
At only 23 years old, she bore the weight of the crown amid the tumult caused by her opponent’s serious allegations, which even hinted at racism. However, Prasad put these speculations to rest by confirming her participation in the upcoming Miss Universe International pageant. She took to Instagram to share her excitement, accompanied by a beautiful photo of herself in a white sleeveless gown adorned with her crown and sash.
“I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation,” she declared, adding, “See you in Mexico,” as she counted down to her appearance at the 73rd Miss Universe event.
This clarification comes shortly after rival contestant Nadine Roberts publicly contested Prasad’s title. Roberts, connected to Fiji through her maternal family in Matuku, Lau, has been vocal about her claim to the title, raising concerns about her conflict of interest with the pageant’s licensing body.
Questions directed towards Roberts have gone unanswered as Prasad continues her preparations for Mexico. She emphasizes her commitment to advocating against violence towards women and girls while pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration in Australia.
