Prashantika Prasad, a 22-year-old aspiring model, is determined to gain confidence and explore opportunities in the fashion industry. She is one of ten contestants competing for the Miss Fiji Universe 2024 title, set to take place in Mexico later this year.
Currently a fourth-year MBBS student at the University of Fiji’s Saweni Campus in Lautoka, Prasad expressed her motivation for entering the pageant as a chance to embrace an opportunity that is rare and to enhance her self-assurance.
Her core message emphasizes the importance of self-confidence and actively taking advantage of opportunities. “While they’re up for grabs, spontaneous things are the scariest, but they help in your growth the most,” she stated.
Prasad aims to raise awareness and contribute to building a more resilient society focused on youth empowerment. She is particularly passionate about promoting education and supporting individuals grappling with severe mental health issues and drug addiction.
With aspirations to complete her education and become a healthcare provider, Prasad has developed respect for fellow contestants who strive for excellence on such significant platforms. “I have learnt the importance of female unity as I have learnt so much from all the contestants,” she remarked.
A former deputy head girl at Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College in Nadi, Prasad was also involved in her school’s music scene, singing the lead for the school’s official music video. Following in the musical footsteps of her father, Shalendra Shambu Prasad, she now serves as a lead member of the University of Fiji’s musical band, and enjoys playing tennis as well as participating in community service during medical camps.
