Manshika Prasad, the newly crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, has found herself at the center of controversy just days after her victory. Following the announcement at a private celebratory event, allegations of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct emerged, creating confusion among her supporters and the public.
Despite the mounting pressure from a rival contestant launching a prolonged media campaign against her, Ms. Prasad has chosen to remain calm and composed. The weight of the crown appears heavy in light of these accusations, yet she has refrained from retaliating on social media.
In the face of unsubstantiated claims that even touched on racism, Ms. Prasad continued to hold her head high. Recently, she addressed the conflicting reports surrounding her participation in the upcoming Miss Universe International pageant. Through an Instagram post featuring a striking photo of herself in a stylish sleeveless gown, she declared, “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe.”
This message served to clarify her position and counter any doubt regarding her status as Miss Universe Fiji 2024. “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation,” she confirmed, adding, “See you in Mexico.”
The renewed scrutiny and drama followed rival contestant Nadine Roberts’ attempts to contest Ms. Prasad’s title, sparking public interest and debates about potential conflicts of interest involving the event’s licensee. Despite multiple inquiries sent to Ms. Roberts, she has not responded.
Currently preparing for her appearance in Mexico, Ms. Prasad is also pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration in Australia and advocates against violence toward women and girls.
