Manshika Prasad, recently crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, faced an unexpected controversy just days after her victory. Following a lavish party celebrating her win, allegations emerged including claims of vote rigging, sexual assault, and financial misconduct.
Despite the intense media scrutiny, Prasad maintained a composed demeanor while a rival contestant launched a prolonged public attack against her. The situation aggravated public sentiment as Prasad, at 23, chose not to engage in social media clashes despite the heavy weight of the allegations.
However, she stood firm in her position. Recently, Prasad addressed the confusion surrounding her title, declaring on Instagram her excitement to represent Fiji at the upcoming Miss Universe International pageant in Mexico. Accompanying her statement, she shared an elegant photo of herself in a sleek white gown, highlighting her official status: “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”
This latest development follows a month of claims from rival contestant Nadine Roberts, who has sought to challenge Prasad’s title and raised concerns regarding potential conflicts of interest with the event’s licensing. In the wake of these disputes, Roberts has not responded to inquiries regarding her accusations.
Despite the challenges, Prasad, an advocate against violence toward women and girls, continues her preparations for the pageant while pursuing a Master of Business Administration in Australia.
