Manshika Prasad, recently crowned Miss Universe Fiji 2024, faced an unexpected and confusing situation when a rival contestant questioned her title. Only two days after the glamorous announcement celebrating her victory, allegations of vote rigging, sexual misconduct, and financial impropriety surfaced, causing chaos among her supporters and guests at the event.
Despite the public scrutiny and a prolonged media assault by a competing contestant, Prasad maintained a dignified silence throughout the crisis. The 23-year-old refrained from engaging in social media rebuttals, choosing instead to stand firm amidst the controversies that arose.
Amidst allegations that took a serious turn, including accusations bordering on racism, Prasad clarified her stance in a recent social media post. On Instagram, she shared an elegant photo of herself in a stylish sleeveless gown, complete with her crown and sash, stating, “Counting down days until I’m in Mexico for the 73rd Miss Universe.” She emphasized, “I am going officially as stated by Miss Universe Organisation. See you in Mexico.”
This clarification comes after rival contestant Nadine Roberts publicly tried to contest Prasad’s title, igniting discussions about potential conflicts of interest regarding the event’s licensor. Despite attempts to reach Roberts for comment, there has been no response.
Currently in Australia, Prasad is focused on her preparations for the upcoming Miss Universe competition. She is also an advocate for women’s rights and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
