Law enforcement agencies are ramping up drug operations ahead of the festive season to disrupt the supply market. In Savusavu, police arrested five individuals during drug raids, where they discovered dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

In the Central Division, a man in his 50s was taken into custody at a carrier stand for holding similar substances. Additionally, a man in his 20s was apprehended along Mead Road in Nabua after police found him with several sachets of dried leaves, a plastic bag containing seeds believed to be marijuana, and a zip-lock bag with white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine.

Another arrest was made in Sigatoka Town, where an 18-year-old man was found in possession of over 50 dried branches and loose leaves thought to be marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, noted that upcoming divisional operations will concentrate on raising awareness in schools and communities. He emphasized that proactive community policing is essential for minimizing the impact of drugs on families and neighborhoods.
