The Magistrates Court in Nadi has denied bail to 24-year-old farmer Ilaisa Tanoa Degei, who faces serious charges of rape and sexual assault involving a Virgin Airline crew member.
Degei appeared in court today, where he was formally charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of rape. Given the severity of the allegations, the court deemed it inappropriate to grant bail. As this is classified as an indictable offence, the case has been referred to the High Court in Lautoka, with a scheduled recall set for January 20.
