The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has forwarded the investigation file related to Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Commissioner Barbara Malimali to the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigation.
In a statement, the ODPP indicated that this decision was made following discussions between Deputy DPP John Rabuku, who was assigned to examine the matter, and Acting DPP Nancy Tikoisuva. The ODPP received FICAC’s investigation file concerning Malimali last week.
The statement noted, “A decision was reached that the investigation into this matter was incomplete; therefore, the file has been sent to the Director of CID with recommendations to complete the investigation.”
Once the CID completes its investigation, the file will be returned to the ODPP for thorough analysis of all evidence gathered. The ODPP has assured that an update will be provided regarding the review of the file after it is received back from the CID and a decision has been made.
