Corruption Charges Loom for Fiji’s Finance Minister

Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Professor Biman Prasad, has stated that his legal team has communicated with the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) to refute its allegations against him. In an interview with FijiLive, Prof Prasad mentioned that his lawyers are managing the situation and maintaining dialogue with FICAC. He declined to provide further comments. This statement comes as FICAC announced plans to file charges against him on Thursday. The commission also informed key government officials, including President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, about their intention to proceed with charges against Prof Prasad.
