Tiliva Nakasaleka Village headman Jale Duikoro has addressed rumors regarding funds or donations from the Chinese embassy.
Widespread social media allegations claim that Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection Lynda Tabuya received $172,000 from the Chinese ambassador for a village development project. Mr. Duikoro clarified last week that these funds have no connection to Ms. Tabuya.
“The $172,000 is intended for village development, specifically for projects such as path construction and restroom improvements,” said Mr. Duikoro.
“We are aware of the rumors alleging it was a private donation. These funds were managed directly between the Chinese government and the Tiliva Development Committee; they were not received privately by her.”
Ms. Tabuya stated yesterday: “The village development committee liaised directly with them, and I was not involved in any way. The process was transparent and straightforward.
“I am not a member of nor involved with the development committee.”
