The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) has allotted 14 conservation leases for iTaukei-owned territory. In a presentation at the Situation Analysis Workshop on Forest Landscape Restoration in Nadi, Fiji, TLTB’s environment officer, Josua Waqanivalu, revealed that these leases take different forms, such as forest reserves leases, nature reserve leases, conservation leases, and Redd++ leases.

Out of these allocations, eight from the government are linked to forest, nature reserve, and conservation leases. Only one iTaukei conservation lease was granted to indigenous landowners, while the rest went to non-government organizations. The leases collectively cover 56,946.26 hectares of land and bring in an annual rent total of $244,855.20.
