Community Shocked as 70-Year-Old Faces Charges of Indecent Assault

A 70-year-old man has been charged and is set to appear in the Navua Magistrates Court today for allegedly indecently assaulting a 12-year-old girl. The incident is reported to have taken place at the accused’s home on the afternoon of August 9, 2024. Both the accused and the victim live in the same community. The matter came to the attention of the Navua Police after it was reported by the victim’s uncle. The man faces one count of Indecent Assault in accordance with Section 212 (1) of the Crimes Act 2009.
