Safety is a shared responsibility, emphasizes Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci. Speaking at the Festive Season Inter Agency Joint Operation workshop, Raikaci underscored that the well-being of the community does not solely fall on the shoulders of the Fiji Police Force, but involves every member of the society.
The one-day workshop held on Monday saw various stakeholders collaborate with the police to enhance safety and security measures during the upcoming festive season. Raikaci stated, “If we want a safe and secure Fiji, we must all come out and put our hands together to fight crime.” He highlighted that ensuring safety is a collective effort, not limited to police or military forces alone.
The main objective of this inter-agency operation is to ensure that everyone can celebrate Christmas without fear. Raikaci expressed optimism that through this collaboration, information sharing among police and stakeholders will contribute to a crime-free festive season.
Director of Operations Senior Superintendent Kasiano Vusonilawe elaborated on the operation’s timeline, which includes three phases: the first phase runs from November 15 to December 15, the second from December 15 to January 15, and the final phase from January 1 to February 15 of the following year.
This proactive approach to community safety exemplifies the commitment to ensuring that the festive season remains joyful and secure for all citizens. Working together can indeed foster a safer environment, reflecting the strength of collective responsibility.
In summary, effective community collaboration is key to enhancing safety during the holiday season, and this initiative sets a hopeful tone for a secure future in Fiji.
