Lt Colonel (Retired) Laisenia Tuitubou, a former Minister in the Bainimarama Government, has passed away at the age of 69. He tragically collapsed at a beach in Pacific Harbour and was rushed to Navua Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
His son, Nemani Tuitubou, expressed the family’s deep sorrow in a heartfelt social media statement, highlighting his father as a beloved patriarch. “Pa was a cornerstone of our family and community. A loving father, devoted grandfather, and a man of great humility and service,” he wrote. Known affectionately as “Pa” or “Tutu” to his grandchildren, Tuitubou was actively involved in their lives and cherished every moment spent with them.
Throughout his life, Tuitubou served with distinction in various roles within the vanua (community), the Church, and his country, establishing a lasting legacy of dedication to his family and faith. His integrity remained prominent, as he held esteemed positions yet remained humble and true to his roots, instilling these values in his family.
While the tragedy of his passing brings immense grief, his family finds comfort in the love and service he exemplified throughout his life. Details regarding his funeral arrangements will be announced later.
