Safety is a shared responsibility, emphasized Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci during the Festive Season Inter Agency Joint Operation workshop. This one-day event aimed at uniting various stakeholders with law enforcement to ensure a safe and secure environment throughout the upcoming festive season.
Mr. Raikaci highlighted that achieving a secure Fiji requires collective effort. “If we want a safe and secure Fiji, we must all come out and put our hands together to fight crime,” he stated. He underscored that security is not solely the duty of the police or military, but a communal responsibility. The core goal of this inter-agency operation is to ensure that everyone can enjoy Christmas without fear.
Expressing optimism, Mr. Raikaci noted that collaboration between the police and stakeholders could facilitate the exchange of crucial information, significantly contributing to a crime-free festive season.
Senior Superintendent Kasiano Vusonilawe, the Director of Operations, shared details about the operation, which will be executed in three phases, concluding in February of the following year. The first phase will run from November 15 to December 15, the second from December 15 to January 15, and the final phase from January 1 to February 15.
This proactive approach illustrates a commitment to community safety and the spirit of cooperation, fostering hope for a joyful and secure festive period for all citizens.
In summary, the collaborative efforts and phased strategy underscore a strong community spirit and a commitment to making Fiji a safer place, especially during the holiday season.
