Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has called on the residents of Naroi Village on Moala Island in Lau to unite as a community to enhance the educational prospects of children. During his visit, he highlighted the presence of approximately 13,000 teachers in Fiji’s primary, secondary, and early childhood education institutions, stressing the critical need to support these educators amid rising school dropout rates.

Radrodro encouraged students and teachers to utilize the initiatives and resources provided by the government. He noted that the Ministry of Education, the largest governmental department, received the most substantial portion of the budget announced by Finance Minister Biman Prasad.

“It is vital for our teachers to perform their roles effectively to ensure our children receive a quality education,” Radrodro stated. He emphasized that the responsibility extends to the entire community, including villagers, parents, village leaders, the police, and religious organizations, to collaborate in improving educational access and standards in Fiji.

Addressing the issue of increasing school dropouts, Radrodro urged everyone to actively participate in the welfare of children regarding their education. He mentioned the initiatives such as the TSLS free loans schemes and the expansion of vocational education training institutions, aimed at creating better educational pathways for children.

He concluded by urging everyone, not only those in Moala Island but also across other regions he has visited, to prioritize the education of children.
