Community Call: Unite for a Brighter Future in Education

Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has called on the residents of Naroi Village on Moala Island in Lau to unite for the improvement of children’s education. During a visit to the village, he highlighted that there are approximately 13,000 teachers across primary, secondary, and early childhood education (ECE) institutions in Fiji, emphasizing the need to support these educators amid rising school dropout rates.

“We encourage both students and teachers to utilize the government’s initiatives and resources,” said Mr. Radrodro. He noted that the Ministry of Education is the largest government department and received the biggest share of the budget as announced by Finance Minister Biman Prasad.

Mr. Radrodro stressed the importance of teachers fulfilling their responsibilities to ensure that children receive a quality education. He urged not just educators but also villagers, parents, community leaders, law enforcement, and religious organizations to collaborate in delivering the educational support children need to enhance Fiji’s educational standards.

Addressing the concerning trend of increasing school dropouts, he appealed to everyone to contribute to the welfare of every child concerning education. The government has introduced initiatives like the TSLS free loan schemes and is working to establish more vocational training institutions to create better educational opportunities for children.

He concluded his message by encouraging all community members, not just those on Moala Island, to consider the future of the children in their education efforts.
