Community Call to Action: Combatting Drug Abuse Together

Community engagement is essential in the fight against drug abuse in the country, according to Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa. During the launch of the 2024 Nasinu Festival on Saturday, he addressed the public about the challenges posed by illegal drugs and their impact on communities.

Nalumisa emphasized that the government is implementing a comprehensive and collaborative strategy to address this growing issue. “Active involvement of the community is crucial to our success,” he stated.

He noted that the government is stepping up efforts to dismantle drug trafficking and distribution networks through coordinated actions involving law enforcement, the judiciary, health services, and community organizations.

Members of the community are encouraged to collaborate with the government by engaging in awareness initiatives, reporting suspicious activities, and supporting educational programs aimed at preventing drug abuse.

“You can make a significant difference,” Nalumisa said. “Together, we can safeguard our neighborhoods, mitigate drug-related issues, and ensure a safer and healthier city for everyone, paving the way for a brighter future.”
