Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci emphasized that maintaining safety is a shared responsibility between the Fiji Police Force and the broader community. Speaking at the Festive Season Inter Agency Joint Operation workshop, Raikaci highlighted the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to enhance security during the forthcoming festive season.
“Our goal is to establish a safe and secure environment in Fiji, and this can only be achieved through collective effort in combating crime,” stated Mr. Raikaci. He reminded attendees that public safety is not solely the obligation of law enforcement or military personnel but requires the participation of all citizens. The primary aim of the inter-agency operation is to ensure everyone can enjoy a worry-free Christmas.
Mr. Raikaci expressed optimism that the cooperation between police and various stakeholders would facilitate the sharing of critical information, contributing to a safer festive period.
Senior Superintendent Kasiano Vusonilawe, Director of Operations, outlined the security plan, which is structured into three phases. The operation will commence on November 15 and conclude on February 15 of the following year, with various measures in place during each phase to enhance public safety.
This proactive approach not only aims to reduce crime but also fosters community spirit and unity as everyone works together for a common goal. As the festive season approaches, the importance of collective vigilance cannot be understated, as it enriches community bonds and enhances overall well-being.
In summary, the Fiji Police Force, alongside community partners, is poised to implement a comprehensive security strategy aimed at ensuring a safe festive season for all residents and visitors. This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration in fostering a crime-free environment during one of the most joyful times of the year.
