The upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa, is set to be a significant platform for impactful discussions, according to Samoan Prime Minister Fiame Mata’afa.
She emphasized that the week-long event will especially focus on the voices of Commonwealth youths. “They are central to our discussions on prosperity, fairness and sustainable development, and through the people and women’s forums, we as leaders have the chance to hear these vital perspectives,” she stated.
The meeting commenced with a panel featuring Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Lenora Qereqeretabua. She highlighted the importance of women leaders from conflict areas engaging in dialogue, noting that this communication fosters understanding despite national differences.
CHOGM assembles representatives from 56 countries across Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. The conference aims to strengthen multilateral collaboration, identify new opportunities, and address shared challenges for the benefit of future generations.
Additionally, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is expected to participate in the meeting.
