Coconuts remain safe for consumers, as there have been no credible reports of individuals injecting drugs into them, according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu. ACP Driu provided this reassurance to the public, dispelling rumors that emerged after allegations surfaced regarding two men allegedly engaged in suspicious activities with coconuts.

On November 21, during a mobile patrol in the Namadi area, a member of the public alerted the Samabula operations team about the behavior of two individuals in the vicinity. The team promptly responded and located the two individuals on a nearby footpath, conducting a search that yielded no evidence of wrongdoing.

ACP Driu clarified that the two men are known for selling coconuts along Princess Road, which likely fueled the speculation regarding their actions. However, he emphasized that the officers’ investigation found no basis for the initial claims.

This statement not only reassures the public about the safety of one of nature’s nutritious foods but also highlights the importance of verifying information before spreading potentially harmful rumors. It serves as a reminder of the community’s role in keeping each other informed and safe.

In summary, the situation has been addressed with clarity and transparency by law enforcement, reflecting their commitment to public safety and community trust. Despite the unsettling rumors, the community can continue to enjoy coconuts without concern.
