The Fiji Police Force has officially dismissed rumors about individuals injecting drugs into coconuts, known locally as ‘bu.’ Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, has taken the initiative to reassure the public, emphasizing that the claims circulating about police intercepting two men engaged in drug-related activity are unfounded.

On Thursday, November 21, following reports from a concerned individual regarding suspicious behavior by two men in the Namadi area, the Samabula operations team responded promptly. Upon investigation, the officers located the two individuals on a footpath, but a search yielded no evidence of wrongdoing.

ACP Driu clarified that these men are known for selling coconuts along Princess Road, which may have contributed to the misunderstandings surrounding the incident. However, the reported drug activity simply did not occur, and the police are committed to keeping the community informed and safe from misinformation.

The Fiji Police Force emphasizes the importance of accurate information sharing and assures the public that any reports can be verified through official channels, maintaining confidentiality in the process.

This clarification underscores the vital role of community vigilance and communication in maintaining public safety. By encouraging citizens to share credible information, the police foster a collaborative relationship that benefits everyone. As the community stands together in the face of unfounded rumors, they can look forward to a future rooted in trust and clarity.
