Coastal Inundation Alert: Southern Fiji on High Alert Tonight!

A Coastal Inundation Alert is now active for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and surrounding smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has indicated that a high-pressure system located to the far southwest of Fiji is expected to cause moderate to heavy southerly swells in the southern waters of Fiji. This is likely to lead to coastal inundation in the low-lying coastal areas of the south.

The Weather Office has warned that these areas can anticipate sea flooding during high tides. They also noted that debris along these low-lying coastal regions could pose danger, particularly during high tides, making recreational activities hazardous.

The next high tide is scheduled for 8 pm tonight.
