A coastal inundation alert has been issued for the southern coastal regions of Viti Levu, specifically from Natadola to Vatukarasa, the Coral Coast, Kadavu, and nearby islands. The Fiji Meteorological Service has warned that coastal areas will likely experience flooding during high tides.
The high tide times are as follows:
– Thursday, October 17th, at 6:00 PM with a height of 2.11 meters.
– Friday, October 18th, at 6:30 AM.
– Friday, October 18th, at 6:50 PM with a height of 2.40 meters.
– Saturday, October 19th, at 7:25 AM with a height of 1.96 meters.
The Fiji Meteorological Service indicates that possible impacts of these conditions include flooding of low-lying coastal areas, disruption of marine and recreational activities, and potential damage to livelihoods. Communities along the coast may also see debris washed up on shore and along roadways.
