A Coastal Inundation Alert has been issued for all low-lying coastal regions of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Central and Southern Lau Groups. The Fiji Meteorological Service reports that a high-pressure system located to the far Southwest of Fiji is anticipated to produce moderate to heavy southerly swells in Southern Fiji’s waters, which could lead to coastal flooding in these vulnerable areas.
The Weather Office warns that the low-lying coastal zones of Southern Viti Levu, Beqa, Vatulele, Kadavu, and adjacent smaller islands, along with the Central and Southern Lau Groups, should prepare for sea flooding during high tides. They also noted that debris along these coastal regions, particularly during high tides, could pose risks for recreational activities.
The next high tide is expected at 8 PM tonight.
