National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad has expressed heartfelt appreciation for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, highlighting their friendship and the Prime Minister’s fairness. During the Party Convention held in Sigatoka today, Prof Prasad acknowledged Rabuka’s unwavering support during his personal challenges in government.
“This kind of leadership is promising for the future of our government and our nation as we strive to enhance both,” he remarked. He noted that the solidarity they share in their political alliance dates back to before they assumed office, and he believes it will continue for a long time.
While acknowledging the difficulties of coalition governance, Prof Prasad pointed out that differences among the three coalition parties are inevitable, occasionally leading to public disagreements. “We are all in politics for various reasons, representing diverse constituents with distinct priorities. Nonetheless, even amidst public disputes, we maintain respect for one another. Our commitment to democracy means we do not conceal our opinions from each other or the public. Just like mature individuals, we can have differing views while treating each other with respect,” he stated.
He emphasized that in politics and coalition governance, not everyone always gets their way. “Respect for your partners and their perspectives is essential. Respect fosters trust, and after enduring years under a government that instilled little trust, we are now working to rebuild trust in our nation,” Prof Prasad concluded.
