Clothes for Good, a pioneering non-profit preloved clothing store in Fiji, has made a generous donation of $5,000 to the Nasole Housing Assistance Relief Trust (HART) Community. This initiative, announced on Wednesday, highlights the organization’s commitment to philanthropy and community support.
With locations in Nabua and Lami, just outside of Suva, Clothes for Good channels its profits directly back into the Fijian community, aiding various local charities and causes. Founder Hayden Ostrom emphasized the mission of the business, stating, “Our business is centred around charity, helping the communities like Nasole HART grow and raise their standard of living.”
Ostrom noted the importance of reaching out to struggling communities, aiming to uplift them from the ground up. He explained that customers shopping at their stores are not only purchasing quality clothing but are also contributing to meaningful change for those in need in Fiji. “We are the first store in Fiji where all profit from our stores goes to helping those in need here,” he added.
The recent donation will be allocated towards urgent repairs within the Nasole community, specifically fixing fences to enhance security, which has been compromised due to break-ins. Ostrom emphasized the significance of safety, particularly for residents who have experienced violence in their lives. Additionally, the funds will also assist in upgrading a community hall that currently suffers from leaks, which is crucial for children’s studies and various community activities.
This initiative showcases the positive impact of businesses that are dedicated to social responsibility, proving that commerce can indeed contribute to community wellbeing. It reflects a hopeful message about the potential for goodwill and charity to create tangible improvements in the lives of those less fortunate.
In summary, Clothes for Good is not just selling clothes; it is actively investing in the safety and education of local communities, paving the way for a brighter future in Fiji.
