Clothes for Good has made a significant donation of $5,000 to the Nasole Housing Assistance Relief Trust (HART) Community as part of their commitment to community support. This donation was announced on Wednesday and highlights the organization’s mission to uplift local communities in Fiji.
As the first non-profit preloved clothing store in Fiji, with locations in Nabua and Lami, Clothes for Good operates with a unique business model where all profits from sales are reinvested into the Fijian community. Founder Hayden Ostrom emphasized that their goal is to assist communities striving to improve their living standards. He stated, “Every time someone shops at one of our stores, they are helping us make a difference for those in need in Fiji.”
The donation will be allocated to enhancing community safety and facilities, specifically aimed at repairing fences to prevent break-ins and upgrading a community hall that is currently leaking and requires significant repairs. Ostrom highlighted the importance of providing a safe environment, especially for those affected by previous violence, and emphasized that the hall serves as a crucial space for children’s studies.
This initiative not only supports immediate needs but also fosters a sense of community and well-being, showcasing how business and charity can work hand in hand to create a brighter future.
In summary, Clothes for Good is taking meaningful action to give back to the Fijian community, reinforcing the idea that shopping can be an act of kindness. As more organizations adopt similar approaches, there’s hope for a greater positive impact on local communities across the region.
