Classrooms without Blackboards: A New Educational Dilemma

A newly opened classroom block at Namuka-i-cake Primary, funded by the Government and the Japanese Embassy, is lacking blackboards. A member of the school committee, who requested anonymity, mentioned that the budget allocated for the $290,000 project only covered the construction of the classroom building, along with desks and chairs.

“The three new classrooms don’t have blackboards,” the committee member stated, expressing uncertainty about whether a quotation for blackboards was included in the project costs. He added, “We are grateful to the Japanese Government for their timely assistance. This was our third attempt at seeking support, and it finally received approval.”

Efforts to obtain a comment from the school head have been unsuccessful. Japanese Ambassador Rokuichiro Michii, in his address, noted that the project incurred a total cost of $290,808 and was financed through a grassroots program. He affirmed that the new classroom block was intended to provide students with a spacious and comfortable learning environment.
