Josefa Draunidalo, the principal of Yasayasa Moala College located in Naroi Village, Lau, has highlighted the urgent need for additional teachers’ quarters and classrooms to accommodate the growing student population. He mentioned that the college had to cease accepting students from the nearby islands of Matuku and Totoya due to a lack of adequate classrooms.
Mr. Draunidalo emphasized that the issue of teachers’ accommodations has been a long-standing concern. “We are having problems with that, so we’re liaising with alumni who are helping us with our teachers’ quarters. They understand that the welfare of teachers is crucial,” he stated.
Currently, with the increasing enrollment from the nearby islands, the college is unable to continue accepting more students. “We need more classrooms to support optional classes, and we are patiently waiting for opportunities for financial assistance,” he added.
