Josefa Draunidalo, the principal of Yasayasa Moala College in Naroi Village, Lau, has expressed the urgent need for additional teacher housing and more classrooms for students. Due to the limited capacity of their existing classrooms, the school has halted enrollment for students coming from the neighboring islands of Matuku and Totoya.
Mr. Draunidalo stated, “The need for teachers’ quarters has long been overdue.” He highlighted the challenges they face with teacher accommodations and mentioned that the school is collaborating with alumni who are helping to address the issue, recognizing the importance of teacher welfare.
With the rising student population, Mr. Draunidalo noted that they are currently unable to admit more students from the nearby islands. He emphasized the necessity for more classrooms to accommodate optional classes and expressed hope for financial support to improve the school’s facilities.
