Approximately 300 students currently studying in tents in Vanua Levu are expected to return to new classrooms by the end of 2025, according to Assistant Education Minister Iliesa Vanawalu. He stated that funding is allocated in the budget to rebuild three schools that were damaged by cyclones.

Mr. Vanawalu mentioned that the final preparations for the ongoing work are in progress and will continue into 2025. He confirmed that a feasibility study for the three schools has been successfully completed.

The minister emphasized that the ministry’s primary goal is to ensure these schools offer adequate and safe learning environments for students. While he could not provide an exact timeline for the completion of the rebuilding efforts, he expressed optimism that all children could return to their own classrooms before the end of next year.
